PRE Client Spotlight: Marilyn Kalish – West Newton Gallery

Artist Marilyn Kalish is a Massachusetts native who has spent the last 20 years showcasing her art at Vault Gallery in the Berkshires. Recently, she has relocated to the Boston area and with that move came the need for a gallery near the city. Marilyn is well known and has been widely exhibited throughout the world! Notable placements include one of her Ballett Russes hanging in Christie’s, New York, and her Lady Macbeth is installed at Shakespeare & Company in Lenox, MA. Along with US placements, she has been featured in a Florence, Italy Biennale.

Marilyn’s husband and gallery manager, Alan Kalish, reached out to Parkway Real Estate a few years ago when they first began residing in the area. They had a successful and strong following in the Berkshires but were considering a move if the space was right. Nothing seemed to fit the bill or moved quicker than we could hop on, and there was no urgent need to relocate immediately. Alan still went every weekend to the Vault Gallery in Western Mass to open for residents and visitors alike.

Earlier this year, however, news came that the building housing their beloved gallery would not be renewing the gallery’s lease and they would need to move this Spring. The building had changed hands and the new owners wanted to re-acquire the space for renovation. Our task soon became a race against the clock to find the perfect space.
