🇮🇹 → 🇺🇸 My grandmother arrived in America at 16 with her mother and sisters, leaving behind a life in Italy. Her parents had been separated by the war but would finally reunite. During those seven years apart, my great-grandfather worked tirelessly, eventually purchasing a multi-generational home for the family to live in once they arrived.
She later took ownership of that home, buying out her sisters when the time was right. After retiring, my grandmother sold that family house and bought a small condo. When she passed, the condo was sold and my mom passed down a small sum to my brother and me. It wasn’t much, but the message was clear: After arriving with just a suitcase, our family had built wealth and roots through real estate. Now, it was our turn to continue the journey.
Fast forward to today—my parents traded up to their third property about seven years ago, an idyllic lakeside retreat on Cape Cod for retirement. Between all of us, we’ve grown multiple portfolios into seven-figure territory, consisting of primary homes, vacation homes, rental properties, flips, and development projects. I look forward to leaving much of this to my kids one day, thanks to a solid estate plan.
